TRINITY SUNDAY, YEAR B.
27th May 2018
Deuteronomy 4:32-34, 39-40; Romans 8:14-17; Matthew 28:16-20.
‘…heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, sharing his sufferings so as to share his glory’.
On this Trinity Sunday, the power of the Godhead to save humanity is the love that burns through the persons of the Trinity. The unity in the Trinity is for humanity a paradigm of love and respect that must exit for life to be. The authority of Jesus Christ is founded on the redemptive sacrificial love. Humanity is called to that love; it is the only way we can confirm our coinheritance with Christ.
The preacher, the Most Rev. Michael Curry, head of the Episcopal Church and its first African-American leader, at the Royal Wedding 2018, between Prince Harry and Megan, explained in clear terms that redemptive sacrificial love heals the world. If humanity unites in will to allow this love burn in the world, it will be a better place for everyone.
Sacrificial love is what will heals the wounds of our broken world. To be coheirs with Christ means to have a share in the suffering and glory of Christ. This is possible only through a participation in the sacrificial love that is redemptive. The unity in the Trinity signifies a high level of love, sacrifice and respect.
